Founder of Wellesley College.
Autograph Letter Signed, three pages, small octavo, Wellesley, Massachusetts, August 15, 1887. “I want for immediate use at College about 200 feet in length glazed drain pipes. I can use 9, 10, or 12 caliber – I prefer 10 inch. Have you got it on hand so that I can have it immediately.” If the pipes are not immediately available, he asks when he may expect delivery and then he makes arrangements for settling the account: “Please make out a new bill in the name of the college and send it to me and I will send a check.” In a postscript he adds an order for equipment for the “gas works” and directs it “to Wellesley College – Freight. Bill to Wellesley College.” Fine condition.
