English architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Document Signed Christopher Wren, Chr:Wren, one page, small legal folio, March 4, 1679/1680. Headed A bill for ye Pryvey Garden begining ye 29 of Septembe: 1679: and Ending ye 23 of Decembe: of 79.

An account signed by Christopher Wren probably as the King’s Surveyor of Works and relating possibly to alterations in the garden at Hampton Court, detailing the cost of twenty-six items, including thirteen weeks of wages for six employees and the purchase of materials and tools, amounting to a total of £94 11s: “Willi: Waite…Stonen Fagg…John [E]anson…Tho: Hawthornwhite…Robert Lewit…the weeder wooman…8 load of Granitt…9 load of dung…7 load of Mould…300 of turfes…young Setts and trees…two Labourers 5 weeks …Clensing ye…Gallery…feeding ye foules…72 load of Shells…porteridge of ye Shells…nailes & leathers…brooms…Carrying away ye Soyle…a Syth and Tacket…rubbars to Sharpen ye Syths…a Spade & a Shovell…6 caskitts…mending ye wheelbarroes…mending ye cold frames…a mopp.”

Matted in cream and mint green with a bust-length engraving of the architect Christopher Wren. In a decorative antique gilt frame measuring 19 inches wide by 17 inches high.
