Rudolf Nureyev is wearing an elaborately embroidered velvet jacket which fits him perfectly. As a meticulous performer, the Russian dancer demanded costumes that were not only beautiful but precisely engineered to suit the physical demands of his dance. He loved sumptuous decoration — fantasias of embroidery, jewels and braid.
