Eleanor Roosevelt, who changed the role of women in America, had a long life and responded to letters sent to her with thoughtful answers and comments and a good selection of her letters can be found. The recent sale onto the market of an especially comprehensive collection has offered collectors a rich variety of letters. Her autographed photographs and signed books are readily available. Letters with important content, however, are rarely seen.
