Frederick Loewe, the composer of very popular shows and songs, was almost unknown in manuscripts on the market before an archive of his musical manuscripts were sold several decades ago at a Los Angeles auction. Almost all were acquired by institutional libraries with the exception of the first lot in the sale which was sold before, it seemed, bidders realized that the auction had begun. That lot comprised the songs for Camelot, and several have come back onto the market recently. Lowe manuscripts are extremely rare.
