English poet.
Autograph Letter Signed, one page, quarto, Rydal Mount, September 21, 1846. To The Rev. Dr. Parkinson, introducing Mr. Pemberton Bartlett “a Student of St. Bees and recommend him to any attention which it may fall within your province to be able to give him the benefit of. He is a friend of Mr. Quillinan, my son in law, at whose request I ask this favour.”
The Rev. Richard Parkinson was a professor of theology at St. Bees College and the author of Poems Sacred and Miscellaneous. In Parkinson’s volume was a poem on the history of St. Bees, which William Wordsworth admired and which probably inspired his own poem “Stanzas Suggested in a Steamboat off Saint Bees Head”.
