Autograph Letter Signed, one page, quarto, Rydal Mount, September 21, 1846. To The Rev. Dr. Parkinson, introducing Mr. Pemberton Bartlett a student of St. Bees and recommending him to any attention which it may fall within your province to be able to give him the benefit of. He is a friend of Mr. Quillinan, my son in law, at whose request I ask this favour.
The Rev. Richard Parkinson was a professor of theology at St. Bees College and the author of Poems Sacred and Miscellaneous. In Parkinsons volume was a poem on the history of St. Bees, which William Wordsworth admired and which probably inspired his own poem Stanzas Suggested in a Steamboat off Saint Bees Head.
