American composer and conductor.
Typewritten Letter Signed, “Lenny Bernstein” with a three line post script in his hand, one page, quarto, New York, April 4, 1945. An early letter to a friend, Leonard, who has written from the Philippines where WWII was still going on. He thanks him for his thoughtful comments about his interest in his work.
“Thank you for your letter. It was very thoughtful of you to write me that you had been following my work with so much interest. I’ve been ‘on the go’ most of this season, and I’m just back from a trip to Vancouver. There are plans under way for an American Music Festival in Paris…and I have been asked to go over to conduct. It’s all very exciting….”
