“It was a most happy gathering, and I thank you for the occasion! Too bad I had to go…for Clifton was in real musical vein, and I too felt an operatic tingle in my fingers! Did I ruin the piano? Would you like to come out here for 1:30 lunch the 17th or 18th of this month? Or do you prefer to wait until after New Year? Despite crisp air and snow, it is really invigorating! Any friends would be welcome as well… Just tell me if two, four, or six of you so I may consult my butcher!! Will take good care also of your chauffeur! I pine to hear more of intimate reflections upon the giddy British monarch! What a situation indeed! Greetings to both, and hope to welcome you here.”
